Family Self-Sufficiency Program

An investment in your future

The Family Self-Sufficiency Program (FSS) is a voluntary program designed to assist families achieve economic independence and self-sufficiency through education, improved employment opportunities, and financial planning.

Being on the FSS Program was a very positive experince because I was able to set a goal of finishing my high School Diploma.

FSS provides resources and referrals for:

  • Child care
  • Education
  • Credit counseling
  • Job placement
  • Small business start-up
  • Free Income Tax preparation
  • Budgeting, banking, investing

FSS Provides referrals for counseling in the areas of:

  • Parenting skills
  • Susbtance abuse
  • Stress/anger management
  • Credit and debt management
  • Life skills

FSS Savings Account

Participants may qualify for the FSS Savings Account

  • A percentage of rent increases resulting from increasesin earned income may be deposited into an interst-earning savings account (certain limits and restrictions apply).
  • Upon successful completion of the FSS Program, the family qualifies to receive any savings earned

 

The experiences I've had have been many, but mostly this program has opened the door for me to become a successful small businesswoman.

Who can participate?

A Section 8 or Public Housing participant (head of household and adult family members)

 

Motivated to improve their life circumstances
