Intern/Helper Training Program
The Intern/Helper Training Program is designed to give residents and low income persons within the community the opportunity to gain the additional skills and experience that will allow them to enter or re-enter the work-force.
The Intern/Helper Program has a 99-percent success rate of job placement in the private sector. In addition to meeting our need for temporary help, the program works to provide on-the-job training, job acquisition and job retention skills to the participants. The program’s goal is to create opportunities for socioeconomic advancement of residents, and to increase self-esteem and self respect.
Internships are offered at the Housing Authority of the City of Santa Barbara throughout the year. Interns learn all about the intricacies of the programs and activities the Housing Authority provide.
Interns work hand in hand with seasoned Housing Authority staff and Santa Barbara City officials. They will be able to share new ideas, shape, and implement programs. Internships typically last about 4 months long and interns will receive course credit as well as a modest stipend.
