Mr. Pearson presented to Commissioner Nelson a Letter of Recognition issued by Mayor Marty Blum also commending him for his contribution to the Housing Authority and the community. Commissioner Nelson expressed his appreciation and thanks for being = able to serve on the Authority’s Board.

M/S Allen/Niehaus moved to adopt Resolution No. 2306 of the Housing Authority of the City of = Santa Barbara, as presented, commending Richard Nelson for his outstanding service and contributions to the Housing Authority and the community.

XI. COMMISSION MATTERS

Commissioner Allen asked Mr. Person to update the Board on the recent hearing by the County Board of Supervisors on the budget crisis in the County’s Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health Services (ADMHS) Department.= Mr. Pearson attended the hearing held on Tuesday the 5^th =

regarding their budget shortfall and how it will impact local non profits that assist ADMHS clients as well as the Housing Authority’s El Carrillo project.= They are working to develop a plan= to find money for the rest of the fiscal year which runs to June 30, 2008. The Board of Supervisors made a mo= tion to do three payments of 2.3 million dollars each, one payment now, with a s= econd payment a month from now and a third one before their fiscal year ends prov= ided ADMHS is making good progress in restructuring the Department so that its financial future is secure. <= span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>

In regards to the inquiry about the progress of potential developments, Mr. Pearson gave a brief update on the Bradley and Taco Bell properties as well= as on the Los Portales development.
