IN BRIEF : Tax help made available to low-income residents

SANTA BARBARA The Housing Authority of the City of Santa Barbara is offering free income-tax preparation in English and Spanish, through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, to low-income individuals and households, families, seniors, disabled and handicapped with earnings up to $49,000 depending on their tax status.

According to a press release from the authority last week, the tax preparation center locations and hours are as follows:

• Family Opportunity Center, 526 W. Montecito St., 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. between now and April 15.

• Paseo Voluntario Learning Center, 309 S. Voluntario St., 5:30 to 8 p.m., Monday through Wednesday between now and April 15.
